The SD card is an 8 GB device, and the software on it occupies about 4.7 GB. The software reveals only whether the SD card up to date, or not, at least with Windows 7. I did not see the graphics shown by other posters here, perhaps because I'm using Windows 7, and I would not know the 2014 Q2 date on the update had I not paid attention to the update file names. ![]() There are help files available on the Mazda Toolbox software, too. I'll keep both until I know this new one is working. After the update was completed, I made a second backup. ![]() It downloaded and installed to the SD card three separate update files. I was informed my subscription would expire exactly three years from the purchase date of the car.Ĭlicking on the Update button revealed the need for an update, and that process took nine minutes. The warning that it might take several hours for backup was a little pessimistic it took six minutes. The software reminds you to plug in your SD card, though when you do that doesn't seem critical. You need to download the Mazda Toolbox software as described previously, create an account, do the emailed verification process, and make a backup of your SD card. ![]() Ironically, once I looked up "janky" in the urban dictionary, I found that it was I, not the software, that is janky :D Previously described as "janky" in this thread, I found it intuitive and easy to use. I updated my maps today on a Windows PC, and had no problems.
